From the surface parity report (2026-08-18), defect 7.

item update --complete / --incomplete always sends an empty Update RPC before the CompleteItem call. That is a wasted, audited no-op mutation per completion flip.

Where: cmd/eagraiclainne/commands/item/update.go.

Fix: skip the Update call when no editable field flags are set.

Delivered in PR #143 (merged): item update now skips the empty audited Update on pure completion flips — the flip rides CompleteItem alone, and a flagless update errors instead of writing nothing. Verified live: exactly one UPDATE audit entry per flip.
