Mark background is limited set, add another option for custom selector.
Invariant impact
This touches the mark-identity canon. Marks are shared identity, not decoration. Mark colors are the fixed Okabe-Ito eight, and they stay theme- and mode-independent (system rule 2, frontend canon). A free custom mark background works against that — two members could pick near-identical backgrounds, and identity stops reading at a glance.
Before building, decide the deviation and record it on this issue:
Decision: not doing this — keeping the existing setup, canon holds.
Marks are shared identity, not decoration (system rule 2). The colours are the fixed Okabe-Ito eight precisely because they stay mutually distinguishable across all common colour-vision deficiencies and across every theme/mode. A free custom background works against that: two members could land on near-identical colours and identity would stop reading at a glance, on exactly the surfaces where colour is the only quick signal (calendar edges, chip borders, tiny marks).
Identity already has plenty of room without relaxing the canon: a mark is colour × symbol (8 colours × ~110 symbols), so distinct marks are never scarce, and the symbol carries identity when colour collapses. Opening a colour picker would trade that guarantee for cosmetic choice.
Closing as won't-fix. If the eight ever feel limiting, the canon-safe lever is more symbols, not more backgrounds.
